Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Budget-2019 announced a concept of zero budget farming, likely to double farmers income.
Let's Know more about Zero Budget Farming:
Zero Budget Farming technically called as Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF), is a set of farming methods that involve zero credit for agriculture and no use of chemical fertilizers.
Zero Budget Farming promises to cut down farming expenditure drastically and ends dependence on loans as farmers need not purchase seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides in order to ensure the healthy growth of their crops.
Zero Budget Farming also reduces dependence on purchased inputs as it encourages the use of own seeds and locally available natural fertilizers. Farming is done in sync with nature, not through chemical fertilizers.
In India, Zero Budget Farming is already in practice in some Indian states like Karnataka, Sikkim, etc.
