World Haemophilia Day Observed On 17th April 2018- Theme, Details, History, About

The World Haemophilia Day (WHD) is marked every year on 17th April across the world to spread and enhance the awareness abouthemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders.

The theme of World Haemophilia Day-2018 is 'Sharing Knowledge Makes Us Stronger'.

World Haemophilia Day was first started bythe World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) in the year 1989.

World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) which chose to bring the community together on April 17 to commemorate WFH founder Frank Schnabel’s birthday.

World Haemophilia Day also aims to raise funds and encourage volunteers to join the movement of WFH.

World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH)

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) is an international non-profit organization established by Frank SchnabeLloyd in the year 1963.

The WFH is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. At present, its current President is Alain Weill.

The WFH has its member organisations in 113 countries of the world. It is officially recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WFH functioned devotedly to educate hemophiliacs and lobbies for improved medical treatment. 75% of people in the world with bleeding disorders are not aware of it and hence do not receive any medical care too.
