"Safe food now for a healthy tomorrow" is the theme of World Food Day, 16 October 2021.
The FAO's Member Countries established World Food Day (WFD) in November 1979 during the Organization's 20th General Conference. The Hungarian Delegation, led by former Hungarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Pál Romány, participated actively in the FAO Conference's 20th Session and proposed that the World Food Day be observed worldwide. Since then, it has been observed annually in over 150 countries, raising awareness of the concerns of poverty and hunger.
