The World Economic Forum (WEF) has introduced a new Global Centre for Cybersecurity (GCC) on 24th January 2018, made in order to establish a secure and safe global cyberspace.
The announcement was made by Managing Director of WEF, Alois Zwinggi in the 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting held at Davos in Switzerland.
The GCC initiative will help and protect the world from hackers and growing data violations.
The GCC centre’s objective is to establish the first global platform for governments, businesses, experts and law enforcement agencies to collaborate on Cybersecurity challenges.
The GCC centre will be headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and will function as an autonomous organisation under the shields of WEF. It is assumed to become operational from March 2018.
The GCC centre will focus on aims such as: Consolidating existing Cybersecurity initiatives of the WEF; Instituting an independent library of cyber best practices; Guiding partners to enhance knowledge on Cybersecurity; Working towards an appropriate and agile regulatory framework on Cybersecurity and Serving as a laboratory and early-warning think tank for future Cybersecurity scenarios.
