Indian Cricketer Washington Sundar – Profile, Career Summary, Awards, Achievements

Washington Sundar has dedicatedly played as an ‘All-Rounder’ for the India National Under-19 Cricket Team and Indian Premier League (IPL).

Washington Sundar started his career as a ‘Left-Handed Batsman’ but later changed his forte as the main-stream ‘Right-Arm Off-Break Bowler’.

Domestic Career

Washington Sundar made his first-class debut for the Tamil Nadu’s Cricket Team in the Ranji Trophy on 6th October 2016.

Washington Sundar scored his maiden first-class century, batting for Tamil Nadu Cricket Team against Tripura in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy.

Washington Sundar made his Twenty20 debut for the Rising Pune Supergiants Team as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin in the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) on 22 April 2017. 

Washington Sundar also received ‘Man of the Match’ award in IPL 2017, taking 3 wickets off just giving 16 runs against Mumbai Indians.

Washington Sundar at present got selected by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL-2018 auction.

International career

Washington Sundar got selected and became part of India's Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) Team squad for the series against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Washington Sundar made his ODI debut for India against Sri Lanka at Punjab Cricket Association, IS Bindra Stadium on 13 December 2017. 

Washington Sundar made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 24 December 2017.

Washington Sundar at the age of 18 years and 80 days, became the youngest player to debut for India in T20Is.

Washington Sundar was also got selected as an ‘All Rounder’ player in the Nidahas Trophy-2018, a T20Is Tri-Series, played between India-Sri Lanka- Bangladesh in Sri Lanka.

Washington Sundar has been appreciated by the Indian selectors and gained huge popularity among Indian cricket lover for his outstanding wrist turning ‘Off-Break Bowling’ in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy-2018.

Washington Sundar took 8 wickets in Nidahas Trophy-2018. and was awarded as 'Man of the Series' award. His best bowling figures were 3/22 against Bangladesh on 14th March 2018, in Nidahas Trophy Tournament.
