Gold Medalist Vinesh Phogat Achievements, Medals in Women Wrestling

Vinesh Phogat Achievement in Asian Games 2018 Details

Vinesh Phogat (born 25 August 1994) is an Indian wrestler who comes from a successful background of wrestling with her cousins Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, both international wrestlers and Commonwealth Games medalists.

Vinesh Phogat’s gold in Asian Games 2018 is definitely a special achievement, just consider these facts:

1-It is India’s first ever Asian Games gold in women’s wrestling.

2-She left the mat at Rio Olympics quarterfinal on a stretcher with tears and a knee injury that raised concerns whether she will ever be able to step on the mat again.

3- The rehab and strength came back under a person who had faced it himself, her Hungarian coach Woller Akos, the training included heavy weightlifting, sprints etc.

4- She thrashed her Chinese opponent against whom she got injured at Rio, by 8–2 in her first match at the Asian games.

5-Vinesh has always used her right leg as a base to launch attacks, which made it a bit predictable, so in the finals, she planted her left leg forward, surprised the Japanese and bagged the gold.
