Anupam Kher becomes chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII)

 

 

Veteran Actor Anupam Kher appointed as the Chief of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune

Veteran Actor Anupam Kher took charge as the Chief of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune on 11 October 2017. 

Anupam Kher succeeds Gajendra Chauhan, whose appointment as FTII Chairman triggered massive student protests.Chauhan's term ended in March 2017.

Anupam Kher was appointed as FTII chairman on 9 June 2015. Many FTII students had protested against his appointment claiming that Chauhan was unfit for the job. 

FTII is considered as a premier institute for training in Cinema and Television which has established in 1960.

It boasts of notable alumni such as Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Om Puri, Jaya Bachchan, among others.
