India celebrates Valmiki Jayanti on 15 October author of Ramayana

 

 

India celebrated Valmiki Jayanti on 15th October, discipile of Lord Rama, PM Narendra Modi remebers his ideas and thoughts

PM Narendra Modi reminisces Maharishi Valmiki for his thoughts and ideas which inspired the nation.

Maharishi Valmiki is remembered as the first poet of Sanskrit Literature and was the author of Ramayana which consists of 24,000 verses and 7 cantos including Uttara Kanto.

Valmiki is also known as the contemporary of Lord Rama, he gave shelter to Devi Sita and Ram’s two sons Kusha and Lava were also born in his heritage and later on he taught Ramayana to them.

His birth anniversary is celebrated as Valmiki Jayanti and one date is not particular for this day, it is celebrated on Ashwin Purnima according to Hindu Calender.

Earlier, Valmiki used to be known as Ratnakar who used to rob people after killing them but after some time he met Narad Muni who converted his life and made him a great disciple of Lord Rama.

narad mOni advised him to recite mantra of Rama Nama and after few years of meditation he was bequeathed with the name Valmiki.
