Uttarakhand High Court has declared entire animal kingdom as a legal entity on the planet. The verdict is given by Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Lokpal Singh bench after almost 4 years of trial.
After giving legal rights to glaciers, the Himalaya and Ganga river Uttarakhand High Court has given civil rights to the entire animal kingdom in a verdict on 4th July 2018 against the petition filed by Narayan Dutt Bhatt from Banbasa Champawat, Uttarakhand in 2014.
Uttarakhand High Court has given human-like rights, duties, responsibilities to the animals and people of Uttarakhand as their protectors.
Now animals in Uttarakhand have humans like rights for work and living conditions. The Court has given detailed norms for handling animals under its jurisdiction area. The court is also set to give the verdict for a similar case as per India and Nepal 1991 cooperation treaty.
