The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared November 3rd as World Philosophy Day. It was first observed on November 21, 2002.
World Philosophy Day is an initiative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) that brings people from all over the world together to think on current topics.
World Philosophy Day was established by UNESCO in 2002 to honor philosophical views all over the world by creating venues and encouraging people to share their philosophical history, open their minds to new ideas, and spark public debate on society's concerns. In 2004, UNESCO Director-General Ko chiro Matsuura delivered a public statement about World Philosophy Day to emphasize the significance of the day. According to him, philosophy provided the conceptual foundation for the concepts and ideas that defined the prospect of global peace - democracy, human rights, justice, and equality.
Philosophical analysis and thought have always included reflection on current society's unsolved challenges and unanswered questions. Various organizations, community groups, and government agencies from a variety of nations have actively promoted World Philosophy Day, including (but not limited to) Chile, France, Morocco, the Philippines, and Turkey.
