India has been ranked 130th in the Human Development Index released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). India got a place improvement in the year 2018 ranking, with India getting 130th among 189 countries.
India's HDI value is 0.640 for the year 2017. Due to which India has been kept in the Human Development category. This is higher than the average of 0.638 South Asia.
In the year 2016, India was ranked 131 with the 0.624 Human Development Index (HDI). According to the United Nations report, in India, between 1990 and 2017, gross national per capita income has improved by 266.6%. Given the purchasing power of India, the per capita national income has reached nearly 4.55 lakh rupees, which is more than Rs 23,470 more than last year.
One point has improved in India's position. In addition, Bangladesh with rank 0.608 HDI in this list, 136th and Pakistan HDI 0.562 with the 150th place.
According to the United Nations report, the situation has improved in the case of life expectancy in India.
Between 1990 and 2017, there has been an increase of about 11 years in life expectancy at birth in India.
Life expectancy in India is 68.8 years, while in 2016 it was 68.6 years and in 1990 it was 57.9 years.
Even in the case of school education, the situation has improved, whereas between 1990 and 2017, India's gross national income (GNI) has increased by 266.6% per person.
Due to inequalities, India's HDI value has decreased by 26.8 %, which is higher than South Asian neighbours.
At the index level, India is ranked 127th in the list of 160 countries and has achieved better place than Bangladesh and Pakistan.
