The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is observed every year on 17th June around the world to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. 

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is a unique moment to remind everyone that land degradation neutrality is achievable through problem-solving, strong community involvement and co-operation at all levels.

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought was first proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution A/RES/49/115 on January 30, 1995, 

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought-2018 Theme is “Land has true value – invest in it.” means Your choices determine future scenarios for sustainable growth.

The World Day to Combat Desertification 2018 campaign #2018WDCD urges you to move away from unsustainable land use and make a difference by investing in the future of land under the slogan, “Land has true value- invest in it.”
