The United States Former Diplomat Rosemary DiCarlo on 29th March 2018 has been appointed as the first woman to head (Under-Secretary-General) United Nations Department of Political Affairs, one of the most high-profile positions at the world body.
Rosemary DiCarlo will replace Jeffrey Feltman, another American who held the post of under-secretary-general for UN political affairs since 2012 and was influential enough to regulate UN efforts to end conflicts worldwide.
Rosemary DiCarlo also served as deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs and director for United Nations affairs at the National Security Council in Washington.
Rosemary DiCarlo was a former deputy US ambassador to the United Nations.She has over 35 years of experience in public service and academia.
At present, Rosemary DiCarlo is serving as the President of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, a group that focuses on solutions to conflicts involving the US interests.
Rosemary DiCarlo was President of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy in 2015. She is also a senior fellow at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs of the Yale University.
Rosemary DiCarlo served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian affairs and as the Director of United Nations Affairs at the National Security Council in Washington.
Rosemary DiCarlo has a Doctorate in Comparative Literature from the Brown University.
