Alka Sirohi (UPSC) replaces Deepak Gupta as a chairman of UPSC

 

 

Smt. Alka Sirohi a Member of the Union Public Service Commission replaces Deepak Gupta. Join as a chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

 Indian President Pranab Mukherjee appoints Alka Sirohi as a chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as per Article 316 of Constitution.

Smt. Alka Sirohi joins office on 20 September 2016. Alka Sirohi gets appointed in office to complete her term as member of chairman (UPSC) till 3rd Junuary 2017.

 About Alka Sirohi’s personal career:

 Alka Sirohi is a retired IAS officer of Mdhya Pradesh. After a long and successful career in Indian administrative service (IAS)

At present she is joins the post of chairman of UPSC.

Before joining the UPSC as a member in January 2012, she was Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

1. UPSC is constitutional body which conducts the prestigious civil services examination to select IAS, IFS and IPS officers among others.

2. It has been established under Article 315 of the Constitution and consists of a Chairman and ten Members; appointed and removed by President.

3. The chairman and members of the Commission hold office for a term if six years or until they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.

4. It conducts the prestigious civil services examination to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
