The Union Government has launched a Capital Dredging Project of Ro Pax Ferry Services under Sagarmala Programme in the Gulf of Cambay in Gujarat between Gogha and Dahej.
This project will reduce the travelling distance between Gogha and Dahej and in result reduce the travel time from 7 hours to 1 hour.
It will be advantageous in reduction fuel, Carbon dioxide emissions and road congestion.
This project will also help in socio-economic development of nearby areas and will provide new opportunities to coastal shipping and tourism.
The cost of the project is Rs.234 crore of which 50% of the funds are provided by the government.
Sagarmala program which is expected to integrate with inland waterways will help in the reduction of the cost and time for the transportation of goods, promote import/export and industries.
The coastal and river line areas will be benefited as transportation of goods and services will be easier.
