Union Food Minister Harsimrat Kaur inaugurates first Mega Food Park in Gujarat on October 29, 2018

Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated Gujarat's first mega food park in Surat on October 29, 2018.

The Ministry has approved the same Mega Food Park in Mehsana.

Located in Shah and Vasravahi villages under Mangal Taluka of Surat district, this park was developed by M / s Gujarat Agro Infrastructure Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd.

With the formation of this park, people of neighboring districts of Navsari, Tapi, Narmada, and Bharuch will also benefit from Surat.

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has implemented the Mega Food Park scheme in the country with the aim of reducing the waste of food items that are destined for the food procurement and feeding of food items that are destroying every stage of the supply chain.

This Mega Food Park was built at 70.15 acres of land costing 117.87 crores. The central processing center created by the developer has a cold storage of 3,500 metric tons of storage capacity, 5,000 metric ton.

An administrative building has also been built in the park for entrepreneurs engaged in the food processing sector.

Apart from this, 4 local centers have also been set up for processing and storage at the primary level near Bharuch, Padra (Vadodara), Valsad and Navsari.

Under the mega food scheme, the Indian government gives financial assistance of Rs 50 crore per mega food park.
