Every year, on the 15th of October, Global Handwashing Day is observed. The global campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of soap-based handwashing in illness prevention. Diseases of the lungs and intestines can be reduced by 25% to 50%.
This day is an opportunity to establish and create new ways for the hand hygiene as a critical component of health and safety. The lessons learned over the previous year have underscored the importance of taking collaborative action to end the long-standing neglect of hand hygiene investments, policies, and programs. Our future is near as we reach a new normal, beyond COVID-19. "Our Future is at Hand - Let's Move Forward Together," this year's theme, urges for concerted action as we move toward universal hand hygiene.
