Blackbuck Poaching Case: Jodhpur Court Verdict Actor Salman Khan Sentenced Five Years In Jail

Bollywood Superstar Actor, Salman Khan along with 5 other accused in Blackbuck poaching case, appeared for the final verdict in a judicial trial court, on 5th April 2018 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Actor Salman Khan including Actor Saif Ali Khan, Actress Tabu, Actress Sonali Bendre and Actress Neelam Kothari are being accused of one of their fourth case of Blackbuck poaching case, which concerns the killing of two Blackbucks (Chinkara) in 1998.

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dev Kumar Khatri Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in jail and fined Rs 10, 000 for killing two blackbucks, an endangered species, in a 20 years old poaching case.

Salman Khan fellow actors and co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari were given the benefit of the doubt and acquitted along with Dushyant Singh, a resident driver from the Jodhpur.

Salman Khan was charged with killing the antelopes protected under the Wildlife Protection Act while shooting for the movie ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ back in 1998.

Salman Khan has been sent to Jodhpur Central Jail for at least one complete day until his bail plea gets approved in the session court on 6th April 2018.

The Blackbuck poaching case trial began in chief judicial magistrate’s court in May 2013. At least 28 witnesses from the prosecution side were produced for examination.

Final arguments in the case were completed in the trial court on 28 March 2018, after which Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri had reserved the judgment for 5th April 2018.
