World Autism Awareness Day Observed on 2nd April 2018 with Resolution ‘Light It Up Blue’- Details, Purpose, History

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally acclaimed day marked every year on 2 April across the world.

World Autism Awareness Day is observed to encourage public to take measures, in regards to raise awareness about people who are suffering from autism all over the world.

World Autism Awareness Day was first declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution "62/139. It was passed in council on 1 November 2007 and adopted on 18 December 2007.

On World Autism Awareness Day-2018, autism community has initiated a campaign resolution ‘Light It Up Blue’ that aims to create understanding and acceptance for those suffering from autism.

On World Autism Awareness Day-2018, with this resolution supporters are encouraged to wear blue cloth line, lighting their buildings blue and hosting a wide range of activities like posting on social media using the hashtag #LightItUpBlue to raise its awareness worldwide.

On World Autism Awareness Day local organizations will organise several events and educational activities to help the public learn more about autism spectrum disorder, which impacts 1 percent of the world population.

World Autism Awareness Day will be observed throughout the April month as Autism Awareness Month.
