The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has decided to implement a Value Engineering Programme’ to promote the use of new technologies and material in the highway project.
The programme to promote the use of new technologies and material in highway project executed either under PPP mode or public funding model.
The reconstituted panel is chaired by SR Tambe, Farmer Secretary, and PWD Maharashtra and co-chaired by Prof Ravi Singha, IIT Mumbai.
The programme aims to use innovative technology, materials, and equipment to reduce the cost of the project and make them more environmentally friendly.
While simultaneously ensuring that the roads or bridges and other assets get constructed much faster and are structurally stronger along with more durable.
The programme is expected to increase the speed of construction, reduce construction cost, increase asset durability and improve aesthetics and safety.
The National Panel of Expert (NPE) will examine all technical matters involving the new technologies, material, and equipment referred to it by the concerned Engineer or concessionaires or contractors.
