A High-Level Committee under the leadership of Union Minister of Sports Kiren Rijiju has been formed to coordinate and strategize preparation for Tokyo Games 2020 & Paris Games 2024 (Olympics).
Kiren Rijiju High-Level Committee main aim would be to ensure maximum participation and medals from Indian athletes in Tokyo Olympics 2020 & Paris Games 2024.
Kiren Rijiju High-Level Committee also aims to ensure that the performance of the Indian athletes is optimized in Olympics and other multidisciplinary events.
Kiren Rijiju High-Level Committee will have 10-member including prominent sportspersons like Olympic medallists Tennis ace Leander Paes, Shooter Gagan Narang, Secretary of Department of Sports Radhey Shyam Julaniya, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra, IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta, President of Indian Athletics Federation Adille Sumariwalla and Chief of Boxing Federation of India chief Ajay Singh.
Tokyo Games 2020:
The committee would seek to provide all possible support to potential and qualified athletes. It would also facilitate smooth logistical arrangements for the participation of Indian athletes, so as to ensure seamless acclimatization and hospitable environment for Indian participant contingent.
Paris Games 2024:
The aim of the committee would be to chart out a road-map for preparation and to continuously review and suggest course correction whenever required.
Apart from these, the committee will also prepare a strategy for bidding of multidisciplinary sporting events in the future.
