The Rajasthan Police has issued orders for the prohibition of Tobacco selling to minors.
It has been stated that in each police station, there will be one child welfare officer under section 107(1) of the Juvenile Justice Act and the ones selling tobacco to the minors will be put behind the bar.
The ones selling tobacco to minors will be put in jail for 7 years or will be charged fined up to Rs. 1 lakh.
The Act has been amended and the provisions have been made under section 77 of the amendment Act.
Under this act, if any person other than a qualified medical practitioner who sells any kind of intoxicating beverage, tobacco or alcoholic products is liable to imprisonment for seven years and will be charged up to Rs. 1 Lakh.
The person promoting use of tobacco or is offering tobacco to minors will be charged against this act.
