International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism is observed on 21st August around the world that represents a major step forward in standing in solidarity with victims of terrorism.
International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism is celebrated every year by the United Nations by inviting international organizations and civil society entities to observe this Day to give attention to terrorism victims at the national, regional and international levels.
International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism was first celebrated in the year 2018, by passing UN resolutions (A/RES/66/282, A/RES/68/276, and A/RES/72/284).
The Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (UNCTED) launched a multimedia exhibit at the Exhibition Hall, Visitors’ Lobby at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC)’s also marked on the first International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism on 18th August 2018.
UNODC’s work to support victims of terrorism is being rolled out through a range of activities.
