President Ram Nath Kovind on 5th September 2019, presented National Awards to teachers for the year 2018 on the occasion of Teachers' Day 2019.
A total of 46 teachers were chosen from across India was felicitated in New Delhi as India geared to celebrate Teachers' Day.
It was the 61st year of the National Teacher’s Award while the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), has already released the list of teachers.
National Teacher’s Award is given to meritorious teachers on Teachers Day to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers and to honor those teachers who have improved the quality of school education and enriched the lives of students.
Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on 5th September across India to commemorate Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary. This year in 2019 it will celebrate the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was India's first Vice President and also the second President of India in the year 1962. He was born on the same day 5th September 1888 in a Telugu Brahmin family in Madras (Chennai).
Teachers' Day aims to honor and acknowledge the contribution of all the teachers in shaping any person's lives.
