Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on 5th September across India to commemorate Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary. This year in 2019 it will celebrate the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was India's first Vice President and also the second President of India in the year 1962. He was born on the same day 5th September 1888 in a Telugu Brahmin family in Madras (Chennai).
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India in the year 1954. He also received Templeton prize before his death in 1975.
Teachers' Day was celebrated in the year 5th September 1962.
Teachers' Day aims to honor and acknowledge the contribution of all the teachers in shaping any person's lives.
Teachers' Day is not a holiday and students go to school & college, and celebrate the day by conducting several activities in their respective schools and colleges.
Teachers' Day to all the teachers, gurus and mentors who guide their successors to become better human beings in their lives.
Note: World Teachers' Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is celebrated every year on 5th October, around the world.
