Tamil Nadu Government has launched a mobile application named 'Uzhavan' (farmer) app that will allow state peasants to have access to nine types of services including details about their crop insurance.
The Uzhavan mobile app was launched by Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister K Palaniswamy on 7th April 2018, at a function in Chennai.
The Uzhavan mobile app can be utilised by farmers to get information on farm subsidies, book farm equipment and related infrastructure and get details on their crop insurance besides receiving weather forecast for the next four days.
The Uzhavan mobile app is bi-lingual and is available in Tamil and English languages.
The Uzhavan mobile app can be easily downloaded from Google Playstore for free.
The Uzhavan mobile app includes information on the available stocks of seeds and fertilisers in local government and private stores,
K Palaniswami on the launch occasion informed that this move clearly shows the government’s effort to take to the ’next level’, use of technology and to help farmers in their profession.
K Palaniswami also launched the 'Amma Bio-Fertiliser' scheme, named after late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, which aims to better management of nature farming and to enhance maintain soil fertility
