Atal Innovation Mission (AIM)is a flagship initiative, launched by NITI Ayog to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
AIM along with Self-Employment and Talent Utilization (SETU) is a Government of India initiative.
AIM includes platforms such as academics, entrepreneurs, and researchers utilizing national and international experience to promote the culture of innovation.
AIM main objectives include developing new programmes and policies for fostering innovation in different sectors of the economy and providing platform and collaboration opportunities for different stakeholders, creating awareness etc.
AIM is authorised to develop umbrella structure to oversee innovation ecosystem of the country and revolutionize innovation eco-system.
AIM sub-schemes include instituting Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) and Atal Incubation Centers (AICs) for providing scaling up support to Established Incubation Centres.
AIM also mandates in finding an ultra-low-cost solution to India’s most intractable problems through Atal Grand Challenges and Atal Vikas Challenges.
AIM till present, has selected 2441 schools across India to establish ATLs, covering 93% of total districts in India and 98% of upcoming smart cities representing all states and 5 out of 7 UTs.
AIM currently has partnerships with Intel and IBM and now SAP has become the third partner for the programme.
