Odisha government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vedanta Foundation on 27th March 2018, for the establishment of a medical college & hospital at Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district in Odisha.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Health and Family Welfare Minister, Pratap Jena in Bhubaneshwar.
As per the MoU, the medical college will have 100-seats for medical students and 500-beds hospital facilitated with specialist doctors will be done initially at an estimated cost of 350 crores and the construction of which will be completed within 2 years.
The medical college & hospital will ensure quality health care for people of Kalahandi and adjoining districts of Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kandhamal among others.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik proclaimed that his government is committed to providing improved healthcare services to the people of Odisha, he also directed his officials to hasten works and ensure timely completion.
CM Naveen Patnaik also informed that nine new medical colleges are being established to ensure affordable, comprehensive and quality health care to people and tackle the shortage of doctors.
