Supreme Court verdict on National Anthem in movie theater play

Supreme Court steps-in on National Anthem, No need to stand up in movie halls to prove their patriotism

The Supreme Court of India has asked, Center to consider regulating the playing of National Anthem in Movie theatres. Rules that require the national anthem to be played before every movie screening can be modified

But the government should take a call instead of shooting from the court’s shoulder, the court noted that we don’t have to wear patriotism on our sleeve.

The court said, people do not need to stand up at a cinema hall to prove their Patriotism, the court also adding that it cannot be assumed that if a person does not stand up for national anthem then he is less patriotic.

previously, Chief Justice of supreme Cour Deepak Mishra who had ruled last year that the anthem must be played before every show at cinema theatres.

Deepak Mishra was among the three judges said that the Centre should decide whether to modify that order without being influenced by what the court had said earlier.

according to Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, the society doesn’t require moral policing and this can’t be done on the whims and fancies of government.
