Supreme Court passed orders stating that nobody can destroy stray dogs and they have the right to live.
Supreme Court stated that it is acceptable to remove stray dogs but destroying entirely is an offence.
A bench of Justice Dipak Misra and R Banumati took the decision of totally destroying stray dogs is an offense.
The decision came after the petition which was issued by civic bodies on removing of stray dog as it has become a menace especially in Kerala and Mumbai.
After an advocate stated that the stray dogs bite children at the way to school, the bench replied that as stray dogs are in way of school, they cannot be killed.
The bench also advised the way out to give shelter to dogs but not kill the stray dogs.
A report was issued in the court stating that one lakh people killed in Kerala due to bites by the stray dogs.
