The Statue of Unity is a monument under construction dedicated to Indian independence movement leader Vallabhbhai Patel located in Gujarat.

The Statue of Unity will be the tallest in the world. The Statue of Unity which will be 182 meters tall, was announced by Narendra Modi in 2013 when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. It will be erected at 240 m from the river base of Narmada.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, considered the world's tallest statue by the Gujarat government, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel On 31 October 2018.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is a Congress leader, who has become a revered figure for the BJP which has sought to project an ideological connect between its espousal of nationalism and his efforts to integrate hundreds of states and regions into India following its independence.

The total cost of the project was estimated to be about ₹3,001 crore(US$440 million) by the Indian government. Later Larsen & Toubro won the contract in October 2014 for its lowest bid of ₹2,989 crore (US$430 million) for the design, construction, and maintenance. The construction was started on 31 October 2014.
