Sports Award of India: Dhyan Chand Award, History, Winners List 

Dhyan Chand Award is the highest sports awards (the Republic of India) for lifetime achievement in sports and games. It is honored annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Dhyan Chand Award was established in the year 2002, it is given only in the event of Olympic Game, Paralympic Game, Asian Game, Commonwealth Game, World Championship World Cup and Cricket also.

Dhyan Chand Award is conferred in the many memory of Hockey Legend Dhyan Chand. This award carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 Lakhs, along with shied and a certificate.

Winners of Dhyan Chand lifetime achievement award:

Some Notable Awardee for Dhyan Chand lifetime achievement award are Aparna Ghosh was the first person to win prestigious Dyan Chandra Award for Basketball in the year 2002.

Shamsher Singh is the only person Dyan Chandra Award for Kabaddi in the year 2007.

Manoj Kothari is the only person who won Dyan Chandra Award for two different games in Billiards & Snooker category in the year 2005.

Romeo James for Hockey, Shiv Prakash Mishra for Tennis and T.P.P. Nair for Volleyball in the year 2005.

Rajendra Prahlad Shelke for Rowing, Satti Geetha for Athletics and Sylvanus Dung Dung for Hockey in year 2016.
