Scientists have developed spaceships for bacteria that can prove to be useful in survival in space. He died in such an environment, but the spaceship could now keep his life safe. This protective suite conjugates with the light absorbing semiconductors of live bacteria, so that they can absorb carbon dioxide.
Along with this, it transforms into chemicals that can be used in the industry or in the future of colonies in the future.
This system, developed by researchers from the University of California in Berkeley, USA, imitates photosynthesis in plants. Plants that convert carbon dioxide to energy from sunlight, convert it into carbohydrates, which we often eat.
The hybrid system produces carbon dioxide and light and forms one type of carbon compounds which depend on the type of bacteria. It also provides a biological way to produce needed chemicals in artificial environments such as spaceships and habitats on other planets.
The bacteria used in this experiment are anaerobic, which means they can live without oxygen in the environment.
