The South Central Railway (SCR) became the first railway zone in India to incorporate 100% LED lighting at all their stations.
The South Central Railway,on 7th February 2018, reported that it has become the first zone in the Indian Railways to complete 100% LED lighting in all the733 stations under its jurisdiction.
The SCR zone all 733 stations are equipped with 75,681 conventional lights of different wattages replaced in divisions of Secunderabad -162, Hyderabad-100, Vijayawada -158, Guntakal -157, Guntur -76 and Nanded -80.
The SCR Chief Public Relations Officer, M Umashankar Kumar, proclaimed that SCR has been on the forefront of adopting energy conservation measures and implementing the same which is believed to save a total 32 lakh units of electrical energy and an amount of ₹270 lakh per year.
The SCR, General Manager, Vinod Kumar Yadav has also congratulated officers and staff members for this achievement.
