Sri Jagannath temple chief Administrator P K Mohapatra asked the temple servitors not to collect donation from the devotees during the car festival in adherence to the Supreme Court judgment. The Rath Yatra will be celebrated on July, 14 this year.
It is decided to install 12 donation boxes, four each on the three chariots of the Trinity. These boxes are called 'Hundis' in the local language.
These Hundis will be installed around the chariots of the Trinity and also at Gundicha temple. Devotees can donate whatever they like in the donation boxes as servitors are prohibited from the collection of money or something else as a donation from devotees.
The preparation of the chariots of the deities are in full swing and are expected to be completed soon. The barricades are supposed to be placed in a manner so that devotees can at least touch the chariots.
