Rani Lakshmibai, the Queen of Jhansi, was known as the Rani of Jhansi. She was called Manikarnika and was born into a Maratha Brahman household. Manu was her moniker after the movie Manikarnika. Rani Lakshmibai was a prominent role in the 1857 Rebellion, which began on May 10, 1857. She became an icon for the Indian liberation movement against the British Raj for the whole country.

On November 19, 1828, Rani Lakshmibai was born in Varanasi to a Marathi Karhade Brahmin family. Manikarnika Tambe was her given name, and she was also known as Manu. The father of Laxmibai was Moropant Tambe, and her mother was Bhagirathi Sapre (Bhagirathi Bai). Her parents were born and raised in Maharashtra. Her mother died when she was four years old. Her father was the commander of the Kalyanpranth War.
Her father was Peshwa Baji Rao II of the Bithoor area. The Peshwas called her "Chhabili," which means "playful." She was homeschooled and taught to read and write, and she grew up to be more independent in her studies, which included shooting, horseback riding, and fencing, than her contemporaries.M Mallakhamba with her childhood friends Nana Sahib and Tatya Tope. Rani Lakshmibai opposed many patriarchal cultural norms for women in India's culture at the time.
The East India Company took advantage of the Maharaja's death by employing the Doctrine of Lapse, refusing to recognize Damodar Rao as the rightful heir. Rani Lakshmibai, enraged by the unfairness, took her case to a London court, which dismissed it.
Rani Lakshmibai was adamant about not giving up the Dominion of Jhansi, so she began organizing a rebel army. Rani was surrounded by superb warriors and had a female army to help her defend herself.
When the British forces invaded Jhansi after a bloody battle, it is reported that Rani Lakshmibai strapped her son Damodar Rao to her back and fought valiantly with two swords in both hands.
