CORONA pandemic has posed a threat to the public gathering at a universal level on the planet. Following the imminent threats of human to human infection, this year monsoon sessions at the upper and lower house of the Indian parliament will witness special seating arrangements.
First time in the history of the Rajya Sabha, members of the upper house will use both chambers and visitors' gallery to participate in the working of the house. There will be 60 members be sitting in the chambers and 50 members will sit in the visitor's gallery along with this arrangement 132 members will sit in Loksabha Chamber.
To participate from these lobbies there are arrangements of big display screens and consoles. There will be polycarbonate sheet separation between chair to chair.
Loksabha's house following a similar pattern of Rajya Sabha to give a protected environment to Member of Parliaments in the CORONA pandemic era.
On 17th July 2020, Lok Sabha President Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Sabhapati M Venkaiyaah Naidu come to the proposal of such an arrangement for both houses for Monsoon Session.
Usually, both upper and lower house work at the same time but for the first time in the history of Indian Parliament Both houses will use two separate timings for their working in a day during MOnsoon Session 2020.
