Private companies and other private corporates have joined Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
The first company which has joined the under PMUY plus scheme is Petroleum Giant Saudi Aramco.
This scheme was launched on 1st may 2016 to provide free LPG subsidy to the poor women households.
The three oil making companies Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation to from a society to run the programme.
The Government has also launched a campaign known as ‘Give it Up’ through which 10.5 million people gave up their LPG Subsidy.
The petroleum Ministry also revealed that 16 million customers were added by Oil Making Companies in 2014-15 and 20 million in 2015-16.
The Government has also been successful in cutting 69 million LPG connections in the past two years.
