In his presidential address on this year's Independence Day, the Honorable Prime Minister announced to the nation to train 15,000 self-help group sisters. As a result of the above announcement, the Drone Didi program has been started today, Thursday, 30 November 2023. Under this, to make drone services available, information technology will be expanded in the agriculture sector by training these women support groups in drone technology.
Under this, 80 percent or up to Rs 800,000/- of central financial assistance will be provided for drones and their supporting equipment. Farmers will be able to earn additional income through this revolutionary initiative. Farmers are changing modern farming methods by using drones. Equipped with modern camera technologies and sensors, drones have the potential to take the Indian agriculture sector to new heights.
1. Spraying of pesticides and fertilizers
2. aerial surveillance
3. Crop and soil health monitoring
4. seeding
5. Assessment of damaged crops
6. Settlement of crop insurance claims
For the availability of drones to farmers, the Drone Didi Scheme, funded by the Union Agriculture Ministry for the purchase of drones, will have a wide-ranging impact on the women of self-help groups in terms of economic, social, and technical knowledge. Along with this, this Drone Didi Scheme will also be helpful in increasing the income of rural women. With the power of new technology, all marginal farmers are gaining new strength.
