Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the national police monument to the nation on 21st October 2018 in New Delhi on Police Commemoration Day. This memorial has been built in memory of the highest sacrifice of policemen since independence. Prime Minister Modi also paid homage to Suman in memory of martyrs.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister also announced the anniversary of announcing the annual awards for the police and paramilitary forces in the name of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for commendable contributions to disaster relief.
This single stone column, which is 30 feet high in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, represents the police force and central police organizations of all states and union territories of the country.
This monument has been constructed on 6.12 acres of land in Chanakyapuri at the northern end of the peacekeeping.
In the memory of the police soldiers killed in the hot springs in Ladakh by Chinese soldiers in the year 1959, the Police Memorial Day is celebrated every year on October 21.
It is a central stone statue made of a piece of NPM granite, which is a 30 feet high stone pillar, weighing 238 tons.
Its weight and color symbolize the severity of the highest sacrifice. All 34,844 police jawans have been engraved on granite on the wall of valor.
Since the year 1947, 34,844 police jawans have been martyred in which 424 police jawans have given their martyrdom this year.
Many of these brave soldiers have killed themselves in various areas like Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and in the fight against terrorism in the Left Extremist areas of the country.
