The President of India Sri Ram Nath Kovind has presented the Lal Bahadur National Award for Excellence in Public Administration, Academics, and Management for the year 2017.
The president presented Lal Bahadur National Award to Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 10 October 2017.
The Occasion revived memories of our farmers Prime Minister Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri. Shastri was an Exceptional leader who believed in simple living and gave slogan “Jai Kisan”.
Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak was the most deserving person for an award named after Sri Shastri as he has contributed immensely in the direction of getting rid of the practice of the manual scavenging.
The Mayor of New York had declared 14 April 2016 as the Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak International Day keeping in mind this Contribution made by Dr. Pathak.
Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak hs also received the Padma Bhushan in 1991.
According to President Ram Nath Kovind, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak has contributed to making the revolutionary change in society and has put into practice the Ideal of Mahatma Gandhi, Baba Saheb, and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak has also completed the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute management for honoring people who have made such valuable contributions.
