Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 1, 86, 777 more affordable houses for poor beneficiaries under the scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
The approval was made at the 30th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee on 7th February 2018 in New Delhi.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) will now be benefitted with a total approved allocation of Rs 11,169 crores with the central assistance of Rs 2,797 crores.
Under PMAY (Urban) scheme after proposed approval, the increased houses have now gone up to 37,83,392.
Haryana has been approved with 53,290 houses in 38 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 4,322 crores.
Tamil Nadu has been allotted with 40,623 houses in 65 cities and towns at an investment of Rs 2,314 crores.
Karnataka has been sanctioned with 32,656 affordable houses in 95 cities with an investment of Rs 1,461 crores.
Gujarat has been approved with 15,584 houses in 45 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 946 crores. Maharashtra got 12,123 houses in 13 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 868 crores.
Kerala has been sanctioned with 9,461 houses in 52 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 284 crore.
Uttarakhand has been allotted with 6,226 houses in 57 cities with an investment of Rs 258 crores.
Odisha has been issued with 5,133 houses in 26 cities and towns with an investment of Rs 156 crores.
The approval was granted for the construction of 1,08,095 new houses under the beneficiary-led construction (BLC) component of PMAY (U).
