The Policy Commission has approved the nutrition policy of the Ministry of Women and Child Development held on September 09, 2018. This clearance has been given after considering the suggestions given by the Ministers of the Department of Menka Gandhi and the Ministry of Women's Child Development.
Under the Integrated Child Development Plan of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, there were plans to provide 10 million children with ripe food and ration for taking home warm cooked food and home from 14 lakh Anganwadi people.
Menka Gandhi was suggesting that home-based meals should be obtained from the self-help groups who have adequate facilities to construct or get it from a government or private institutions.
According to the report, the minister's minister Menka Gandhi was also against serving hot food. She wanted that the 'ready to eat' packeted meal be distributed to the beneficiary children.
Officers of the Ministry of Women and Child Development were in favor that the food given to children should be made only by the self-help groups available locally available materials.
Menka Gandhi had told policymakers that we should think about giving nutrition only to feeding food, While the Ministry of Women and Child Development had suggested to the Commission that food security under the National Food Security Act meant providing food grains and food to the needy in the required quantity.
