The Assam government and Ola, one of India’s app-based Cab Transportation Company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 4th February 2018.
The MoU was signed between Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister for Transport Industry and Commerce in Government of Assam and Vijay Ghadge, Vice President Operations of Ola at the Advantage Assam - Global Investors’ Summit in Guwahati, Assam.
The MoU was signed with an aim to establish an app- based river taxi service in Guwahati, Assam.
Under the MoU, Ola will navigate the high-speed river taxis on Lachit Ghats and Machkhowa in Guwahati to North Guwahati across the river, bringing the commute time down by two to five minutes from 45 minutes by road.
Ola app-based bookings will ensure advance bookings and cashless payments, securing a safer, convenient and commuting experience for travelers.
The river taxis will be machine-operated boats and users will be able to book the rides through Ola's app.
