Indian National Hockey Teams got a new sponsor, now it will be sponsored by the state government of Odisha with an estimated amount of 150 crores for the next 5 Years.
Odisha showed its first ever association in sponsoring Indian National Hockey Teams, with this Odisha also became the first Indian state to sponsor National Hockey Teams.
Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik made the announcement on 15th February 2018 at an event in New Delhi.
CM Naveen Patnaik, on the occasion also unveiled new jerseys and its designer logo for Men/Women National Hockey Teams.
CM Naveen Patnaik proclaimed that hockey in Odisha is more than a sport, it is more like a way of life, especially in the tribal regions of the state where children learn to walk with hockey sticks.
CM Naveen Patnaik also informed that the state had ever produced many talents in the past and at present for Hockey sport. He added Odisha will continue promoting supporting and nurturing India hockey in future.
Odisha state will be hosting International Men’s Hockey World Cup-2018 scheduled to be held between 28th November 28 to 16th December 2018.
Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar has hosted international tournaments like the 2014 Champions Trophy and 2017 Hockey World League Finals.
