The world's largest campaign 'Ocean Cleanup' was started in California to remove pollution and sea cleaning across the globe. Its purpose is to remove plastic and other wastes from the sea and save the sea from being polluted.
The 24-year-old youth who started this campaign is Boian Slatt His campaign was supported by scientists around the world. After working on the project for six years, it was launched on 08 September 2018.
Under this expedition, a 2,000-foot collection system of 'U' shape has been put in the sea, with the help of which the water was washed separately.
Under this campaign, the goal of clearing the marine sector has been set in the area of approximately 6,00,000 kilometres from California to Hawaii.
Approximate area is twice the size of 1.6 million square kilometres.e. Texas or three times the size of France.
This area is estimated to be 80 thousand tonnes of plastic garbage, which is similar to the weight of 500 jumbo jets.
The goal of this campaign is to clean 50 tonnes of garbage every year from the sea.
The same is also planned to recycle those plastic waste after being removed from the sea.
