National Youth Day is celebrated all over the country to honour Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary on 12th January.
The country has been celebrating this day from 1985 when the government officially declared to celebrate this day.
In schools, special events, speeches, recitations, youth conventions and other activities take place to inspire the youth.
National Youth Festival is also organised in Rohtak Haryana from 12th to 16th January to mark this day.
Swami Vivekananda founded Ramakrishna Mission, Ramakrishna Path and Vedanta Societies.
Swami Vivekananda introduced Hindu Vedanta philosophy to the West.
Swami Vivekananda’s famous words were, ‘Arise, Awake! And stop not till the goal is reached’.
