National Security Council (NSC) Chief National Security Advisor (NSA) Role, Responsibilities for National Security, List of India's National Security Advisors

In India, the National Security Advisor is the Chief Executive of the National Security Council and the primary counsellor of the Prime Minister of India on national and international security.

Intelligence agencies of India; Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Bureau of Intelligence (IB) report to the National Security Adviser instead of reporting to the Prime Minister. Due to these same powers, the National Security Council is considered the most prominent and powerful office in terms of bureaucracy.

National Security Advisor (NSA) is the Chief Executive of the National Security Council (NSC) and the primary adviser to the national and international security of the Prime Minister of India. This post was first created in India in 1998 by the then Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

It is important that the National Security Advisor is appointed by the Prime Minister of India. At present, India's National Security Advisor is Mr. Ajit Doval.So far, there are 5 people on this post whose names are;

Salary: ₹162,500 (US$2,300) monthly
