Health: 150M population in India suffering from mental illness

 

 

National Mental Health Survey reveals 150 m people are suffering from mental illness, Karnataka a better place with 8% population suffering

The National Mental Health Survey reveals that 150 m Indians aged 18 and 7.3% of 13 to 18 years are suffering from mental disorders.

The mental disorders include various mental disputes and need a mental care service.

The people of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Manipur and Assam are worst states in relation to mental disputes.

The people aged between 30 to 49 years are more affected age group

Whereas, Karnataka is a better state with 8% population suffering from mental health burden.

The mental health problem includes depression, anxiety disorders and substance use disorders in which depression is the common problem faced by the people.

Neurosis and stress related disorders like phobias and anxiety affect women more than men.

50% people are suffering from severe disability and less than 2% have severe mental illness like psychoses or bipolar disorder.
