IPS YC Modi took charge as Director General of National Investigation Agency

 

 

IPS officer Yogesh Chander (YC) Modi took charge as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency

The senior IPS officer Yogesh Chander (YC Modi) on 30 October 2017 took charge as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency.

YC Modi, a 1984-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IPS Officer, he succeeds Sharad Kumar whose tenure saw the agency probing some high-profile cases.

The National Investigation Agency is a central agency established by the Indian Government to combat terror in India. It acts as the Central Counter-Terrorism Law Enforcement Agency.

The NIA came into existence with the enactment of the National Investigation Agency Act 2008 by the Indian Parliament on 31 December 2008.

The agency was created after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks to combat terrorism
